A Life Changing Trip: Expressionist Artist, Leonor Anthony’s Voyage to Beijing

I met the brilliant Expressionist Artist, Leonor Anthony a few years ago at a common friends birthday luncheon. I was instantly drawn to Leonor, which usually occurs to me anytime creativity & raw talent are in my presence.

Leonor’s preferred mediums are oil on canvas, charcoal drawings, digital art and mixed media. The imagery of her art is crafted with unprecedented assertiveness, a combination of refined, complex and loose brush strokes, characterized by violently expressive color and jarring compositions that elicit vivid emotional reactions.

When I found out about Leonor’s recent trip to China I had to make sure she shares this life changing experience with the world.

First, meet the lovely Leonor Anthony & some of her works of art:

CHINA – Beijing Art Expo 2013

Leonor went to China for the for the 16th Beijing Art Expo 2013 with her gallery, Art Center Miami. The exhibition took place from Sept 13-16. It was her first time in China so she didn’t know what to expect. What Leonor found was the land of the extremes! Absolute chaos, multitudes of people and cars living harmoniously with sublime landscapes, Buddhist temples, Tai Chi practitioners and highly educated art collectors.

These photos where taken at Long Qin Xia scenic spot…

An Evening at the House Of Horror

I was summoned by the demons to visit the House of Horror Amusement Park located in Doral. It only took a moment before I embarked into an oppressive nightmarish setting of a cemetery haunted by zombies & chainsaw-carrying murderers.

I won’t give away full details of my experience. You need to live or “die” by your own experience.

The basics: demons, possessed clowns, slaughterhouse gore, asylum madness and macabre characters that will give you a good jolt.  I felt disoriented in the mazy passageways, pulsating lighting with nooks & crannies serving up the next scare.

The kid in me had an amazing time and the adult in me needed a stiff drink afterwards.  🙂

Here’s a sneak peek. Visit, if you “dare”…

Pre-Cocktail Reception at Olympia Theater in celebration of Recent Cinema from Spain’s Return to Miami

Last night’s pre-VIP cocktail reception at the Olympia theater at the Gusman Center for Performing Arts was amazing! Over 300 people came out to celebrate the Recent Cinema from Spain film series return to Miami this November.

EGEDA (Audio-Visual Producers’ Rights Management Association) and The Olympia Theater at the Gusman Center for the Performing Arts Present the Third Edition of the Recent Cinema from Spain Film Series this November 2013.

Arturo Morell, Alina Intertain, Emilio Sanchez, Elvi Cano, Margaret Lake and Francisco Tardio

Following the tremendous success of the last two editions, which attracted audiences of almost 4,000 each year, the third edition of the Recent Cinema from Spain Series will be returning to Miami, FL to host a four day Spanish film event celebrating the diversity of contemporary Spanish cinema showcasing the best of Spain’s rich, vibrant and vital films – on the big screen at the Olympia Theater located in the heart of downtown Miami. Ticket and pass holders will enjoy nightly premieres and participate in Q&A sessions with filmmakers and cast members following each film. Kicking off the event will be a red-carpet opening night gala on Thursday, November 21, 2013 followed by a VIP reception.

The program will include The nominated Goya Awards nominated thriller The Body , the wittiest recent Spanish comedy A Gun In Each Hand , the youth market Spain’s box office blockbuster Combustion and the multi-award winning mockumentary and box office sensation in Spain, Carmina or Blow Up .

I’m really looking forward to seeing, THE BODY El Cuerpo 2012 by Director: Oriol Paulo, Cast: Jose Coronado, Belen Rueda, Hugo Silva

A heady mix of classic noir, blood-chilling horror and high suspense, THE BODY is a thriller following a detective (Award winner Spanish star José Coronado) who searches for a corpse (lead actress in J.A. Bayona “The Orphanage”, Belén Rueda) which has gone missing from a morgue. A Goya Awards nominee for Best New Director, Paolo proves to be a master storyteller with this absorbing plot, which keeps viewers guessing about both the strange circumstances surrounding the victim’s death and the reasons why her body has disappeared. “…the kind of breathless, relentless genre fare whose sole aim is to generate suspense, and it pretty much succeeds.” Jonathan Holland. Variety.

Lunch with Céline at The Peacock Garden Cafe

Wednesday, September 25, 2013 – I had to find the perfect spot for a quiet lunch meeting that offers an exquisite ambiance and I remembered that a good friend recommended, The Peacock Garden Cafe. Around 1870, the Peacock family looked for the perfect spot to plant their roots. They discovered it in what came to be the Village of Coconut Grove! Now, almost 130 years later, they planted a verdant tropical garden on this very ground. The Peacock Garden Cafe is their vision of the archetypal Coconut Grove restaurant.

Peacock Café is perfect for a delightful meal, a quick bite or maybe a glass of my favorite, – Prosecco to be enjoyed in their beautiful garden. Miami Spice is near the end. Make sure to try their $19 lunch menu. I recommend the classic wedge salad, Vegetable Risotto and both desserts: Chocolate brownie & sorbet!

As for my date with Céline -I’ve been drawn to her “Rorange” red & orange hued glow. The Céline handbag is a perfect Fall staple adding a pop of color to any muted outfit. I purchased mine at my favorite store, Saks Fifth Avenue – Dadeland. Make sure to stop by the Fifth Avenue Club and allow the them to make your shopping experience sheer perfection.

I hope your tummy is grumbling and the fashionable diva in you is in full roar!
