A lifetime resident of Los Angeles, Sunny has always been a keen observer of fashion and style and as a world traveler he adds an international flair that makes him well suited to understand today’s cosmopolitan woman. Sunny places family at the highest echelon of his priorities. Symbolic of this commitment, he derived the name Bavna from his Mother’s first name, the heritage and roots of which are traced to the ancient language of Sanskrit. It is with unyielding good intentions that Bavna delivers the finest quality and design. Sunny finds inspiration from his immense respect and awe of nature and especially his wonderment and passionate appreciation for the deep beauty and purity of unrefined gemstones garnered straight from the soils of the Earth. Q & A with Sunny Jain

Q. At what age did your fascination with gemstones begin?

A. I grew up working in my family’s fine jewelry business as a child and I was always fascinated with the rare gems and raw diamonds. I later pursued and received a medical degree, but realized my calling was creating with the beautiful gemstones I grew up loving.

 

Q. Where was the name Bavna derived from and what does it mean?

A. I chose the name Bavna to pay homage both to my mother Bhavna Jain and our lineage traced to ancient Sanskrit teachings.  The translation of  “Bavna” means “of good intentions” and represents the core essential values I make tangible with every handcrafted, one-of-a-kind Bavna design.

 

Q. What, Where or “Who” inspires you?

A. I draw my inspiration from my immense respect and appreciation of nature.  I travel the world and draw inspiration from the depth of the oceans to exotic sunsets and starry nights.  Each of my designs has elements of nature in their colors or patterns.

 

Q. Many celebrities love your jewelry. Do you design with a certain type of client in mind?

A. When I set my eye toward designing, I envision the modern woman who’s lifestyle demands timeless jewelry, but is looking for something that is innovative and cutting edge.  I strive to make my collection diverse and extraordinary in color and style to suit the uniqueness of every woman.

 

Q. What is in store for the future of Bavna?

A. Bavna is a relatively young company.  It was started in 2011 and the demand for the collection has continued to grow rapidly.  Bavna will continue to stay on the cutting edge of the gem industry, always searching out the highest quality gems to create new and alluring pieces that will remain timeless pieces of jewelry.
