The SoapBox Story!

SoapBox Soaps was founded in 2010 with a simple mission: to empower consumers to change the world through everyday, quality purchases. The journey of making the first batch of soap in the college apartment kitchen of David Simnick, co-founder and CEO, to a nationwide presence in some of the largest retailers, all in 5 years, has been fast-paced but fantastic.

Simnick graduated a year early from American University with little direction on where he wanted to pour his passion and energy. He interned at both for-profit and nonprofit organizations during college, including a Senate internship. Looking for more challenge and leadership, he signed up for the Marine Corps. A few weeks before finalizing the plan, a friend who had started a small tech company asked him to come on and help out until his ship out date. Simnick fell in love.

After catching the entrepreneurship bug, Simnick canceled his Marine corp idea and began exploring entrepreneurship with his friend’s company while working full time for a USAID contractor. This experience led him to realize that clean water aid wasn’t being implemented to it’s fullest potential and wasn’t being paired with essential hygiene items like soap. That’s when it hit him: combine the love of entrepreneurship with the need of hygiene products. He called up his best friend and told him the idea, SoapBox Soaps was born, and the rest is in the suds!
