NATIONAL ROSÉ DAY – Let’s Celebrate!

National Rosé Day is observed annually on the second Saturday in June.  Rosé is probably the oldest known type of wine, dating back as far as 600 BC.  Rosé wines are generally made from red grapes and are very versatile wines that complement many types of food. Rosé is lighter than red wine and deeper than white wine.  The pink color of Rosé wine depends on the time the grape skin stays in contact with the juice, also known as maceration.  There are Rosé wines that are semi-sparkling or sparkling with different intense of sweetness levels and dryness.

HISTORY

National Rosé Day was submitted to and approved by the registrar of National Day Calendar in October of 2014 by Bodvár of Sweden – House of Rosés – a Rosé House specializing in Rosé wines to raise awareness and give Rosé lovers a day to celebrate with “summer’s water”.

HOW TO OBSERVE

Celebrate National Rosé Day by having a bottle of Rosé wine with brunch, lunch or dinner.  Or, simply invite friends over for h’orderves and enjoy each other’s company. Share your special day on Social Media using #NationalRoséDay.

Origin: Gascony, Bas-Armagnac
Grown, produced and bottled by Domaine du Tariquet.

Varieties:
40% Merlot, 40% Syrah, 20% Tannat

Serve chilled, before or during a meal. Excellent with tapas, summer dishes, Italian food, or spicy, exotic cuisine.

Tariquet’s rosé will accompany a starter or main course with ease.
A beautiful shade of pomegranate red, with an exquisite bouquet, both subtle and intense. Mild spicy notes lead to a delightful duo of wild raspberry and flower petals. Rich, full bodied and fresh on the palate.
The fruit is a treat as the wine’s intensity retains an ethereal quality, leaving a trace of rich flavours and salty spiciness on the finish. A rosé made from red grapes, using the same vinification process as for white wine.

Storage:
Should be stored upright, in a cool dark place. To enjoy its full potential, drink within one year of bottling.
